In STEM fields, there’s a lot of talk about how we need to attract more women, Aboriginal people, immigrants, and other minorities. Diversity is on the radar of employers, educators, and government. And yet, change is slow. Under-representation continues to be a significant challenge.

L’équipe de TechImpact a mis les bouchées doubles récemment avec le lancement de Digital Boost 2.0, notre programme le plus important et le plus ambitieux à ce jour. Je suis ravi de la portée de ce programme qui viendra en aide à 150 entreprises du Nouveau-Brunswick à planifier leurs stratégies de transformation numérique, avec le soutien des fournisseurs de technologies locaux et talentueux. DB 2.0 enlève l’intimidation et le sentiment d’être dépassées que plusieurs entreprises non technologiques ressentent lorsqu'elles envisagent de passer au numérique. Si votre entreprise peut en bénéficier, ou si vous connaissez un organisme qui pourrait avoir besoin de ce type de soutien, poursuivez votre lecture pour connaître les détails du programme. Par ailleurs, nous recrutons! Alors, n’hésitez pas à partager l'offre d'emploi de Gestionnaire de programme (voir ci-dessous) avec toute personne que vous croyez apte à combler ce poste.

The TechImpact team has been going full-out lately, with the launch of Digital Boost 2.0, our biggest, most ambitious program yet. I’m excited at the scope of this program, which will help 150 New Brunswick companies chart their digital transformation strategies with the support of outstanding local IT service providers. DB 2.0 removes the intimidation and overwhelm many non-tech companies feel when they think about becoming more digital. Digital transformation isn’t just for the tech sector. For our region to prosper, non-tech companies need to go down that path, too. There are lots of companies here to help. That’s why I’m so excited about Digital Boost, a program pairing N.B. tech providers with local companies that need technology and advice. TechImpact is the Digital Boost program manager, financially sponsored by ACOA and GNB. Today, there are 26 projects underway on ERP upgrades, cloud migrations, e-commerce implementations and more. In the weeks ahead, we'll be showcasing some early Digital Boost success stories.

The APEC report released on September 17th underlines the growing importance of digital technology to Atlantic Canada's economy. It has also shown us the tremendous potential the tech industry offers to our region and our local economy, so it's important we make it a priority. We have ambitious, innovative companies here, both small and large, doing great work and offering fantastic opportunities. That's why we must focus on growing the labour market for the industry here, both by encouraging youth to explore tech careers and by attracting skilled workers to fill the current shortages. We are thrilled to share this data with everyone and to explore new ways to build on what’s working well and to overcome challenges that take many hands to eliminate so we can continue to grow our economy.
